About

Taylor Jiyoon is a Korean Adoptee, Musician & Sound Practitioner, Storyteller & Creative.

A lifelong musician, Taylor is classically trained as a pianist & singer and holds a Bachelor of Music in Sound Recording Technology. During her studies, she was led to research the meditative & healing applications of sound, ultimately guiding her to offer intentional listening experiences for others. Taylor believes that building a thoughtful relationship with music & sound can act as a meditative practice with a myriad of benefits to our mental, emotional, & spiritual health.

In 2020, Taylor began creating short-form video content to share her lived experience as a transracial & international Korean adoptee, and to open up dialogue about the complex challenges that many adoptees face in their lives. She believes that centering adoptees in conversations about the adoption system is vital, and that telling her story is one way to amplify adoptee voices. Taylor is passionate about working and connecting with other adoptees on their own journeys and supporting them as an advocate, guide, and peer.

Currently based in Seoul, South Korea, Taylor is taking time to explore her relationship to identity, creative & artistic work, and spiritual ceremony through studying the Korean language, Korean shamanic and ancestral rites, and other cultural traditions of her heritage. She finds balance through daily practices of listening, reading, writing, learning, and meditating.

In pursuit of

self-understanding

I believe the path to self-understanding requires thoughtful reflection, mindful dialogue, and emotional awareness. None of us exist in a vacuum, so to understand the self requires us to understand the world and the people we share it with. Intentional listening is a pathway to building greater empathy and a stronger sense of self.

I strive to hold space for others that facilitates this pursuit. Whether it is through music & sound, storytelling, or spiritual practice, I hope I can bring you something supportive through my offerings.
